“On the fast track of growth”
Are you satisfied with the steps taken by your government to stamp out corruption from the state?
That has been a priority since the day I took over as CM. In the Rathore case, you have seen how promptly the state government acted to dispense justice to the aggrieved family. My aim is to root out corruption from the state so that every citizen can live freely without any fear.
What steps have been taken to improve quality of life?
A number of steps have been taken. Education, health and road construction have been given added priority. Specialised medical care facilities and basic amenities are being provided both in urban and rural areas. Besides road connectivity, efforts are afoot to improve rail and air network in the state. There has been a tremendous increase in Haryana’s per capita income. The per capita income of the people of the state increased to Rs. 38,720 in 200708 from Rs. 35,779 in 2006-07 at the constant price and Rs. 56,280 from Rs. 49,038 at current prices. So Haryana is reckoned as one of the best in India by Planning Commission and the 12th Finance Commission, which resulted in that state ranking second in per capita income just after Goa.
What steps have you taken for the betterment of farmers?
In Haryana 86% of the area is arable. About 75% is irrigated through tubewells and canals. As you know Haryana contributed significantly to the green revolution and we want to sustain the same pace.
